Year 9 Mastery Options Evening
Date of Event: 22nd January 2026
On 22 January, we invite families of our year 9 students to our Year 9 Mastery Options Evening.
What is the purpose of the evening?
As students move into year 10, they have the opportunity to make some decisions about the subjects that they will study at GCSE. We refer to this as Mastery, in line with our drivers of Mastery, Autonomy, and Purpose. Students must have Autonomy to make their own decisions, but these decisions must be informed by accurate information that students have reflected on, with your help and the guidance of their teachers and subject specialists.
This event will provide you with information about the different choices open to students, allow you to ask any further questions, and inform you of the timeframes for making these decisions. Once students have decided which subjects they will master at GCSE, they will not be able to change their decision, so it is important that they consider it carefully.
What will the evening look like?
Families are invited to arrive between 5 and 5.30pm, where tea and coffee will be available in the canteen.
The event will begin at 5.30pm and will finish at 6.30pm with presentations which are aimed at providing you with the information that you need to assist your child in making their mastery decisions. Once the talks are finished, you will have an opportunity to talk more informally to key members of staff, subject specialists, and careers advisers.
If you would like more information about the event or have any other questions, please contact Mr Eastham via email at info@dixonsba.com.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our students flourish academically and personally.
