Personal Development Studies (PDS)
At Dixons Broadgreen Academy we are committed to ensuring that our students develop into young adults with the knowledge, understanding and skills to make informed decisions in their future life. We have designed Personal Development Studies (PDS) around the DfE Guidance for personal, social and health education (PSHE) and relationships and sex education (RSE).
Health and Sex Education is covered in Science, PDS, and RS lessons. Outside agencies may come into the academy to talk about diet, hygiene, exercise, and relationships and sex. The facts of life are taught in Science lessons as part of the national curriculum and backed up with discussions on relationships and moral values in RS lessons.
PDS develops students' understanding of British values and prepares them for the modern world. At DBA we believe that every student should have the opportunity to climb their mountain to success to reach their potential to university or a real-life alternative. The PDS curriculum supports students in navigating that journey and their life beyond DBA.
